America: Land of the Free Except for Muslims
As an American I can tell you exactly what it is like to have your freedoms ripped from your very soul. I converted to Islam in 1993 and I was a pure and simple soul. I knew only that God had saved me and that I would have to make many changes with my new life.
I no longer could use the word God, I now only knew Allah. Allah is the Arabic word for God, but there are many Gods. Americans have money gods, TV gods, car gods and belief in mystic gods, but Allah was just one. He was the Lord of my Soul. So being very naive I knew very little about the cruelty of this world, as I had known it in the past. I now was faced with losing my freedoms, my right to gather and most assuredly my right to pray. |
I did not quickly put on my head cover (hijab) when I converted to Islam. I only covered when I went to the mosque, but some six months later things would change. I was introduced to a man who I would later marry who told me wearing hijab was not for him or a requirement, it was to please my Lord, Allah.
I thought about this gentle man's words and I placed hijab on my head and vowed to never change. The business world was not as kind as Mo, my future husband. He was the most religious man in the world and he would guide me to know Islam as no one could. He taught me how to love Allah and his messenger with all my heart and soul. Although we would only be together for seven years, this single man was the one who taught me about loyalty, friendship and about how Islam beckons people to do more than to pray and read Quran.
I was a real estate Broker when I became Muslim and although I now know this to be haram, at the time I did not. My first client that I got after putting on my head covering was a Jew. She was very nice and sociable, but my husband refused to speak to her. I could not understand this mindset at all and in America we just did not know about the great and horrific problems with Israel against Muslim countries and especially Palestine.
I started seeing many things in America that I knew little of before putting on my head covering also. I now was an outcast. I was not just an American Broker, I was a woman chastised, abused, tortured and neglected. Here are some of the freedoms Muslims do not have in America.
1. The Right to Worship Freely
Muslims are targeted in America if you go to the mosque too often. Go 5 times a day as according to the sunnah of Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, and you are a target. Want to live in America freely then don't go to the mosque, pray too often, take prayer beads to town or dare to put any symbolic mirror hanging in your car. Dare to put prayer beads on your inside mirror like Christians put their dice balls or their incense decor and you are now a terrorist.
Regular devout Muslims are followed everywhere they go and the Mosques are bugged to listen to the slightest or even joke of a movie they watched yesterday.
2. The Right to Bear Arms
Today the news is that Americans are arming theirselves to protect against dreaded martial law across America. But if a Muslim would dare buy one single gun, every ATF in the world would be knocking down their doors at 5am in the morning. Muslims do not have the right to bear arms.
3. The Right to own a Mobile Phone
Most Americans have 1,2, 3 or 4 mobile phones in their homes, but Muslims who own a mobile phone are tracked by the FBI or local authorities. Every Muslim is assumed to be a terrorist, whether guilty or not.
4. The Right to go to a Mall
Guess you never thought of this one. A man walked off the register and refused to serve me because I was Muslim and then there were the 3 men who tried to kill me in the Downey Mall because I dare to cover my head.
5. The Right to Boycott
It is illegal, yes illegal for a Muslim to boycott Israel products, but today many people want to boycott Land o'lakes for their views on GMOs. The list of boycotts in Americans by Christians grows daily, but if we dare to write about not buying Jewish yogurt, we can be imprisoned.
6. The Right to Hear the Adhan
Muslims must worship in secret, buy a Mosque on a back road and never ever be able to hear the adhan in America. Does the call to prayer threaten Americans?
7. The Right to Exist
More and more Muslims are choosing to leave America because there is no freedom there to live in harmony. I left America prior to the 9/11 crisis and I can tell you that things are much worse now. I fear for my brothers and sisters in America because times have changed.
Every Muslim is a target now because of 9/11 and more. Christians are not a target when the Oklahoma bombings occurred or the latest target by some "good ole boys" but Muslims cannot live in harmony and peace. I left America in 1998 for Hijrah and I have no regrets.
Do I miss my family? Yes, but not as much as I would miss my freedom to live peacefully. I can worship as I like, speak good of Palestinians and even cover my face if I choose. No one body searches me if I go to the airport or follows me when I pick up my mobile. No one wants to kill me at the local mall because I lower my head when a man approaches and no one spits in my face.
I never had any man walk off the register and refuse to serve me and I don't have to apply for food stamps because I am hungry. No person in Jordan is hungry as our neighbors readily support the community. When my husband died everyone came to my aid and supported me for 7 years. My king sent me free to Hajj and even sent an escort to hajj to make sure I had all my needs met.
Living in Jordan is hard, but I am free. I am truly free and I shout and thank Allah daily for this. So as many want to go to America, I do not. I still pay taxes to them, although I use none of their services and after 50 years of working there, my social security will be greatly reduced because I dare to live in a country such as Jordan, but Allah is my keeper and he provides.
The only way I was able to get a dual citizenship in Jordan was because my husband started my paperwork before he died, but now America has the right to not renew my long expired passport because I am a dual citizen. So although I do not want to live in America, even the right to get a passport may be denied.
Freedom in America, BULL!
